Baptism (Greek: Baptizo simply means to dip, plunge, submerge) tells the world of our decision to identify with Christ (Romans 6:1-6)! It is an outward expression of an internal change that is an act of faith and obedience of a repented believer to identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Baptism does not save us, but it is a command by Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19). In order for baptism to have meaning in your life, one thing must take place: You must repent of your sin, calling on the Name of Jesus (Romans 10:13).
Jesus was baptized to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3:13-17) and new believers in the Bible were baptized by immersion (Acts 8:38-39).
